The Sony FDR-AX1 Digital 4K Camcorder is the first consumer 4K video camera. Sony has developed a technology that will bring the consumers to an innovative 4K cam with an easy to operate system. The image processor incorporated in this camcorder is also present in Sony's professional video cameras which can handle 4K 3840 x 2160p Video at 60 fps. The FDR-AX1's promotes 1/2.3" Exmor R 8.3MP CMOS Image Sensor and Sony G Lens with 20x Optical Zoom. Photographers will benefit with the camera’s independent zoom, focus and iris rings as well seven assignable buttons and HDMI output which you can easily set to your own preference. For a state of the art shots, a built-in microphone and dual Pro XLR jacks is available and dual XQD card slots for 4K recording and storing. Other features are also available including XAVC-S format for 150 Mbps 4K recording, three ND filters and five paint functions for image enhancement. FDR-AX1 also supports Sony's TRILUMINOS Color technology which is featured on TRILUMINOS-equipped television where you can view your photos and movies in rich and natural colors.

Go beyond Full HD with 4K
Meet the video camera that offers 4K recording. Shoot video that displays over 8 million pixels (3840 x 2160)—four times the resolution of Full HD—and capture moments in unrivaled, realistic detail that bursts with vibrant color.

XQD media cards
The twin XQD media card slots—compatible with S- and N-Series XQD cards—deliver smooth, high read and write speeds for 4K video. With the option to switch to relay recording*, shoot longer without worrying about the recording stopping when one memory card fills up. (* Video and sound may be cut temporarily in the relay recording process.)

XAVC S recording format
Derived from a professional-quality recording format, XAVC S compresses both the video and audio (using MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 and PCM, respectively) of your movies before saving as an MP4 file. XAVC S also lets you record images at 50 Mbps, enhancing the level of detail associated with Full HD content while reducing the effects of compression noise.

Creative control with ASSIGN buttons
The seven on-camera ASSIGN buttons are designed for quick, easy navigation between camera settings. Allocate specific functions—including Marker, Zebra, Peaking, Focus Magnifier, Auto Exposure Level, SteadyShot, Color Bars, Rec Lamp [F], Rec Lamp [R], and Thumbnail—to an ASSIGN button to find a setup that works best for you.

Easy playback with HDMI
Connect the Handycam® to a 4K monitor or TV using the in-pack 4K-ready HDMI cable, and start watching movies in breathtakingly realistic detail. No 4K monitor? No problem. Simply connect the Handycam®, change the HDMI output settings to 1920 x 1080, and play movies on your HD TV.
